Jupiter's ocean-sized scar revealed

The Hubble telescope has snapped a giant black scar on the surface of Jupiter
caused when the planet collided with a comet or asteroid earlier this week.

The bruise on the solar system's largest planet is roughly is the size of the
Pacific Ocean and was first spotted by Australian amateur astronomer Anthony
Wesley on Sunday.

These images were taken by the space telescope's new Wide Field Camera 3,
which was installed during a mission in May and is yet to be fully
calibrated.
