Brookline man charged with video spying on guests

Brookline - A Brookline man is facing felony charges after a pair of sisters
from Western Massachusetts accused him of training cameras on them in the
bathroom of his home.

Lennox Lin, 32, a resident of 20 Stearns Road, was arrested Dec.15, and charged
with two counts of secret surveillance and intimidating a witness after a pair
of women said he spied on them while they stayed in his apartment, the
Brookline Police said.

According to the police, two sisters from Amherst, ages 23 and 16, were staying
in Lin’s apartment for Black Friday, Nov. 28, hoping to get good deals on
Christmas shopping.

Lin was arrested after the two women reported to the Brookline Police they
found several cameras in the bathroom they were using while staying in Lin’s
apartment, a Brookline Police report says.

Lin was staying at the two-bedroom apartment while the sisters were subletting
the other room.

On Nov. 29, one of the women reportedly noticed a red light coming from the
bathroom cabinet, and allegedly found video recording equipment facing the
shower. She also allegedly found a pair of cameras concealed in a box pointed
at the toilet.

One of the victims reportedly told Brookline Police she did not remove the
cameras for fear Lin would confront them. They reportedly gave police several
photos of the cameras and the rest of the apartment.

After discovering the cameras the two women reportedly stayed with a friend
at MIT. On Dec. 5, one of the women put information about Lin up on her blog.

When police went to talk to Lin, he reportedly was nervous and agitated.
Searching Lin’s apartment, police reportedly found details were different
from the photos the subletters took. Lin had reportedly changed the shower
curtain and removed the boxes containing cameras. Police reportedly placed
Lin in handcuffs for their safety as he became increasingly agitated.

After police obtained a search warrant, Lin was arrested.

Detective Carlos Crespo, Jr. made the arrest.
