meteorological standpoint, this month has been a welcome relief. Thus far,
more than 3 inches of rain have fallen in downtown L.A.. An average February

National Weather Service in Oxnard.

California Rainfall: Rain continues this afternoon across northern
California as the latest storm moves onshore. Since the barrage of storms
began on February 5th, the city of Redding has tallied just less than 7” of
rain as of noon Pacific Time today. To put this in perspective, the period
from July 2008 to January 2009 featured just 8.39” of rain, nearly 10”
below normal. Rain should linger into early Wednesday morning before
ending. Through Friday, it appears any ocean storms should remain offshore.
However, heavy rain should return by the weekend, which is good news for
area reservoirs, which need the onslaught of heavy rain to continue. Farmers
are also benefitting as their crops are receiving some much-needed moisture,
although tender lettuce in the field is reported to be wilting due to the rain
’s intensity.
