"生命"電影放映新聞稿

一九九九年九月二十一日，台灣中部山區發生驚天動地的九二一大地震，無數的
生命因而逝去，無數的家庭因而破碎。導演吳乙峰以他與朋友間的信件為基礎，
拍攝下數個家庭從地震傷痛殘敗中努力站起來的經過，闡明了在災難中失去摯愛
的數個家庭的悲痛，以及導演和他住在安養院年邁的父親間的關係、生離死別、
絕望與求生的慾望。導演吳乙峰拍攝的這部九二一大地震災後重建紀錄片，是去
年台灣最令人感動的電影，也讓人更體會出生命的意義與可貴。本片獲得2003年
日本山形國際紀錄片影展優等獎及2003年法國南特影展觀眾票選最佳紀錄片。

在芝加哥大學台灣同學會副會長許舒堯的努力下，台灣同學會購得"生命"的公開
播映版，將於二月十二日(週六)下午三點鐘於芝加哥大學 Max Palevsky Cinema
放映。

電影放映將對外公開，免費入場，歡迎大家踴躍前往觀賞。

On 21 September, 1999, a devastating earthquake hit Taiwan. Years
later, the tremours of pain and loss still reverberate through the
lives of the survivors. Wu Yii-feng, a pivotal figure in Taiwan's
communal media movement, spent three years tracing their emotional
trajectories as they cope with enormous changes like losing homes
and loved ones, as well as new beginnings. In parallel are Wu's
ongoing philosophical reflections on his father's declining health
and debilitating pessimism. The film's brimming compassion and
respect for humanity fill one with the courage to unwrap life's gifts,
be they joy, surprise or disappointment.
