線上匯款的問題 - 舊金山

我最近幫台灣的一個網拍業者買了一些東西寄到台灣
對方沒有美國的銀行帳戶
我也沒有台灣的帳戶
所以對方是請在美國（但是不方便代買）的親戚匯款給我

我本來想幫對方省匯款手續費
所以問有沒有Paypal 或Venmo 帳戶
他說沒有
所以我就還是提供了銀行帳號、routing # 這些資料

結果今天對方的親戚寫了一封信
大致的意思是說他去銀行匯款，被charge 很多手續費
如果未來要用網路銀行匯款來省手續費的話
需要我的網路銀行登入資訊（帳號和密碼）

他的信原文是這麼說的：
Unfortunately, there was a $45 transacation fee, and actually
I can transfer the fund without fee if I do it through my online
account, but I need your friend's login information (user name &
password) for his online if he has one.

這讓我覺得蠻奇怪的
至少我自己的網路銀行帳戶設定external transfer 不需要對方的密碼
請問有人可以幫忙解釋一下這大概是什麼狀況嗎？
