那我這路人也來試著解釋一下:p
剛剛找一下電子期刊

比較舊的文獻有大致解釋它的定義
Environ. Sci. Technol. 1985, 19, 854-861

A benthic nepheloid layer (BNL), enriched in
suspended particles and trace organic pollutants and extending
from the sediment-water interface to the lower
boundary of the thermocline, developed at the onset of
stratification and played a dominant role in the cycling of
chlorinated hydrocarbons.

(這篇是講湖水的BNL Orz)
BNL含有大量的懸浮顆粒以及微量的有機汙染物
他的範圍從水和沉積物交界處延伸到下部斜溫層
並且對於氯化的碳水化合物的循環扮演一個重要的角色
(因為本篇是在探討氯化的碳水化合物)
看來是在底層以及斜溫層的交界處

文中引用
The benthic nepheloid layer,regularly observed near the seabed,
mainly originates from resuspension of the sediment.
(McCave,1986 ; Puig and Palanques,1998)

也就是說這個在海水底層的混濁層
通常在海床被觀察到，其原因是海底沉積物被刮起的再懸浮造成的

However,further behaviour of suspended particles and their residence
time in the water layer depend on physical and biological influences
(Eisma et al.,1991 ; Graf and Rosenberg,1997 ;
Ja¨ hmlich et al.,199 8; Chronis et al.,2000 ).

然而這些懸浮顆粒他們在底水的滯留時間
取決於底層的生物作用(底棲生物跟微生物)
以及物理作用(水流以及顆粒的沉降)
