請問捷運卡的問題 - 新加坡

我去查了一下新加坡的捷運路線和票價：
有一個很妙的是，它有早起價---

If you exit this station before 7.30 am from Monday to Saturday
(except public holidays),
you will enjoy a discount of 10 cents on your adult farecard.

從鳥園（Boon Lay） to 我住的旅館（Outram Park），是1.4元，
如果早起就是1.39。（Early Bird）

所以其實並沒有買捷運卡會打八折這種事嗎？我搞不懂。
如果不會打折，那押金5元這樣買捷運卡划算嗎？
